ChatGPT gets GPT-6 – free users get new interactive answers too
OpenAI has switched ChatGPT's engine to GPT-6. Answers can now include tables, charts and small tools such as calculators, and that includes the free plan.
On 7 October 2026 OpenAI started rolling out GPT-6 in ChatGPT together with what it calls Intelligent UI. ChatGPT can choose to answer with a comparison table, a chart or a small tool you click directly in the chat, such as a calculator or a bill splitter.
Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise run GPT-6 Sol. The Free plan and the budget Go plan got access from 8 October and run the smaller GPT-6 Luna.
Another change is that ChatGPT can start answering while it is still thinking or searching, and then add more. So you can start reading sooner.
What does it cost? Nothing extra. With a free account you get the interactive answers without paying.
How to get started
- Ask something where a table helps: "Compare three electricity contracts for a 60 m² flat."
- Ask for a tool: "Make a calculator that shows what my streaming services cost per year."
- Always check figures and prices against the source before you make a decision.
