ChatGPT dots: AI agents that work around the clock – but not for Pro users in the Nordics yet

Dots are OpenAI's new agents with their own cloud computer. They keep working when your computer is off and get in touch when something needs you. In Sweden they are only available in the Business Premium plan so far.

On 29 September 2026 OpenAI launched dots: AI agents that run 24/7. Each dot has its own cloud computer with a browser, connects to your apps through ChatGPT plugins (OpenAI mentions more than 4,000 apps) and keeps working when your computer is off. Dots are powered by OpenAI's top model GPT-6 Astra.

The difference from ordinary chat is that a dot can reach out on its own. It can flag an important email, warn you that two deliveries clash or prepare an invoice and ask for your approval before it is sent. You talk to it in ChatGPT, Slack or Teams.

The situation in Sweden: the consumer Pro plan (from $100 a month) gets dots everywhere except the EEA, Switzerland and the UK – so not here. The Business Premium plan gets dots in every region where ChatGPT is available, and in Enterprise an admin can switch on a beta. Free, Go and Plus have no dots. The first dot is included in the plan at no extra cost.

Zapier's tester connected a dot to their real Google inbox. Verdict: very helpful, but not ready to run the inbox on its own. Routine notifications were flagged while a more important email that required judgement was missed. OpenAI itself says its protection against prompt injection (hidden instructions in, for example, emails) reduces the risk but does not remove it.

How to get started

  1. If you have Business Premium through work: start with a narrow task, such as a summary of today's calendar every morning.
  2. Connect only the apps the dot really needs, and require your approval before it sends anything, edits documents or pays.
  3. Don't assume silence means nothing happened. Keep checking your inbox yourself for the first few weeks.
  4. Private user in Sweden? Don't pay for Pro just for dots, since the feature isn't open here yet.
